Evaluation

My aim with this project was to take an existing object that was no longer in use or at the end of it life with a consumer and bring it into the light again with re-vamping it. I feel that i have achieved that by creating some edgy and exciting pieces of work. i am disappointed with the mirror as it kept on breaking. I am most pleased with my chair, i felt it had a good representation of one of my artists studies but still looked very different as well as looking to my taste very appealing. Over all i think that i would have liked to do some more objects and maybe looked into scavenging broken objects and then created whole new products too, to then add designs, but i am pleased with what i have created.

finals

Here are a few quick images of my final pieces of work that i have re-vamped.

Print try outs.

I have tried out some different materials to print on for the chair and also i experimented with colours.

The failed mirror.

I had selected to create a mirror design on the glass but i came across some problems over and over again, i had come up with a design which was different to the others and it was drawn out and i was ready to apply it to the glass itself, but the mirror broke. I then went out and bought more mirrors to replace it but they again broke so i in total went threw about 4 mirrors while applying my design.

Putting my designs on the items.

Here i am working out how to apply my designs to the lamps and colour schemes, as well as my chair design.
This is the finalised design for the chair as i do not think that colour will work well with a "scott cambell" inspire chair, as i would like to paint mine black too.

Ace of spades design.

I have kept this design simple as it is such a recognisable design and i felt i didn't want to create something that would be to distracting and had too much going on but still had a powerful presence.
i have chosen two designs each for different objects and then i have quickly drawn out a room with sofas on and added some sort of design to show what it could look like.

Chosen items

i have chosen a range of items to work on and create a revamped version of the original and have a new and exciting product.

My skull designs.

I have used the basic outline for this skull but then rounded off the back section a little and taken out almost all the details to the apply my own designs.

Brain storming the some possibles.

Ben Wilson

Ben is a designer from London that i have worked with, he has always been conscious of the environment and the effects of his designs.

Puma and F1, which is made completely from old Puma shoe boxes but creates a powerful piece of design that shows that F1 is committed to protecting the environment and that puma is also.

This chair is called "chairfix" as the whole thing is made from one machined piece of wood so is easy for shipping and more eco-freindly as well as any designs can be easily applied for a companies purpose as well as being completely recyclable.

Skull designs.

I have decided to go with a "day of the dead" depiction of the skull as it also has a relevant meaning to my work which is; the "day of the dead" is a celebration of life and death and how you cannot have one with out the other, as well as rebirth, so i think that that is a fitting meaning to my work. I am taking old, disposed of, or second hand items (at the end of the life with that consumer) and now bringing it a new life by re-vamping it.

More research into designs

Here i have looked into some existing designs and tried to experiment with them to try and get some more interesting ways to develop on some initial thoughts.

The larger images i have taken inspiration from a few different tattoo designs from magazines and combined them to quickly make some new original designs, but i need to refine the designs further.
