I have tried out in these sketches usable ramps and mostly 3D changes and adaptations to the phone boxes.
I have tried out several different versions of a phone box, i have decided to stick with the modern classic four sided booth as i feel it offers the most in the way of advertising space and will allow me to experiment with both 3D and 2D advertising.
From these ideas i will select three or four to develop on further.
Brands
I have been looking into some brands and brand logos in particular to see how i might integrate some of there aspects into a phone booth.
I like the variety in logos, they are simple and striking so are easily recognisable. Quite a few of them are the actual tittle of the company but i i would prefer to use more of the logos that are just a captivating image.
Also i have noticed that they have simple colour schemes like black white and one other colour so stand out very well against back grounds.

I started looking at some artists for inspiration and found that banksy had created some phone boxes of his own where he had manipulated both the box itself and added 3D objects i.e. a pick axe.
I like that he has used a old school version of the telephone box, i think as this is such an iconic object in the UK that it will be well worth looking into adapting it or making some changes to help advertise what i want. This phone booth is not actually usable which is something that i would like to do as then in the real world changes that i might make are cheaper and quicker and will hopefully have a similar impact.
This phone box appears to have been almost dragged into the road, again it is not usable but is a really amazing spectacle that it could easily used as a form of advertising but i will need to investigate into other ways to integrate my themes and create my own version of a spectacle.

existing phone boxes
I first started looking at some existing phone booths to gain some information on how they advertise and also so see if there are some more interesting versions on the standardised phone box.
These are both quite open styled phone booths so do not have as many walls for advertising but the one on the right has some interesting curves so is a little more aesthetically pleasing.

These are some photos of the types of advertising on the sides of phone boxes, they are bright and eye catching.
Many of the adverts are for food, cloths and things to do in and around Birmingham so people on the move can quickly pick up information on the go.
