Evauation

With this project i am happy with my final piece as it is striking and eye catching as well as a still usable telephone booth. I originally looked at various forms of the phone box but found the most common was the newer standard one and for the ideas i had in my head it was the best choice. The idea behind basing the theme on skate boarding and BMXing is because i skateboard so had a lot of back ground knowledge and i like the designs of the companies and quickly engaged the ideas to the phone booth. I found that my ideas grew quickly and were quite fluid and so the project itself was enjoyable. I liked how it was negotiated so i could plan my time around how i preferred to work with this project, i had a lot of freedom to explore a subject i enjoy a lot so the end result i felt came out better for it. I found that the materials i used were a good choice but i think if i was to make the phone booth again i would make it larger and out of wood so i could put the 2D aspect directly onto the box. I would also like to have used more artiest influences as the salvador dali idea was very successful as it stands out and it unusual. I think that maybe having multiple phone booths would have made the project also quite interesting as i could have larger, more of or over sized objects and posters to enhance the theme. Over all i feel that the project was a success and my end result was what i was looking for.

Final outcome

Final development

Here is one of my final 2D advertisements i like that it is simple but eye catching, i am going to keep the original colours for the logos but have one block colour as the back ground.
I have decided that the BMX tire in grey is simple again but against the black background and window it will stand out a lot.
here is the skateboard coming threw the wall underneath the phone as a seat. The phone will be black with skateboard wheels as the mouth and ear piece as it will add a little more detail.
I want to keep the BMX wheel coming threw two walls like it has been throw threw it and got tuck as it is an unusual feature.
This is the other side of the skateboard whcih is poking out of the poster.
I like the Board holder as it is discreet but usable and an interesting feature.
I am defiantly keeping the melted board inspired by salvador dali as it will catch a lot of attention.

colour schemes

I have defiantly decided to go with block colours as they stand out and the logos are black white and one other colour, and the phone box itself will be all black as the features will stand out a lot more.

Further development with the 2D aspects.

This is a further developed 2D poster, i have added colour and played around with the composition a little.
here i have tried out the poster turning into a 3D object but i find that there are better and more interesting ideas that i can use.
i have painted the BMX rack in a bright colour and placed the poster behind and i think that the bike holed just takes up a lot of room and i think as a part of a final piece it would be that eye catching.
I like the board just randomly coming threw the poster as it stands out a lot like it has just been jammed threw on purpose, also i could have the other end coming threw the other side underneath the phone and it could be used as a seat.
this is the skate board holder with a poster over it which i like a lot as it makes the board holder much more discreet.

2D advertising development

I wanted to use a wide variety of logos, most i wanted to just be an image rather than words but some were styled enough that i put them in as well.

i tried using some pin striping in this one but i felt that it did not have much to do with the sports in question so i did not continue with this idea any further.
i liked the way the FLIP was written so thought that i should defiantly use this one.
i liked the large wings in this images so defiantly wanted to re-use them as well as the blue print heart and the large V for venture.
A basic wheel from a BMX going threw the walls of a phone booth would attract a lot of attention.

A BMX and skateboard can be used as instant advertising as they are easily recognisable.

Some possible objects to add to my Phone booth

this is a skate board holder which could have advertising over it.
This is a simple Bike holder which could also have advertising
A pair of roller skates could be attached to the side of the box.
A skate board truck could be used as a door handle
A BMX seat could be placed into the phone box.
A basic skate board could be going threw a wall of the booth.
Handle bars can replace the door handle.

Development of phone booth

Here i have started to create and play around with different ideas and compositions, i have kept the large ramp that i usable as i think that it is a large eye catch feature and can be used for 2D posters.
This is a grind rail on the top of the phone booth, it is mealy aesthetic but i think that it is quite obvious what it is and stands out high above a crowd of people.
here i have tried out the opening kicker ramp at the bottom and a miniaturised quarter pipe just above where the window would go which would act as a sun blocker.
At the rear of the Phone booth i have added a large usable grind rail.
The phone itself has been changed so that the ear piece and mouth piece are skateboard wheals which i think is only a minor detail but adds just a little more to the theme.
Here there is a grind rail around the whole phone booth which isn't usable and a BMX wheel which has been jammed threw the walls at an angle which i think are both interesting and aesthetically pleasing.
The door handle has been replaced by the handle bars of a BMX and there is a melted skateboard cascading over the side of the phone box which i think is an unusual piece.

Development of phone booth

I have created a simple phone booth to then start looking at how i can change it to make improvements and create a better version for my project

Artest study - salvador dali

I wanted to look into some art that wasn't anything to do with phone booths so i looked at some artists that have some interesting images. After looking at some artists i found salvador dali had a couple of images that have some melted objects like the melted clock and melted instruments.

I would like to take the idea of melting objects and apply that to some of the objects i have ben looking into as i think that this will make a much more eye catching and interesting phone booth.

Artests study - Phone box aquarium

I have looked at some more artiest that might help to inspire me, the first is an artists called Benoit Deseille and Benedetto Bufalino, they created an aquarium phone booth in a town centre for the lyon light festival.
they felt with the invention of the mobil telephone that phone booths were unused. They decided that it would be a good idea to reuse the phone boxes and create a spectacle  that would make the phone box useable again but in a more interesting way. The idea of reusing the phone box as a public display is something that i would like recreate in my own work.

Selected Ideas

This idea uses the classic from of the phone booth, the main adaptation is a usable ramp on the side to skate on, this could make the phone booth sometimes noisy but as my target audience is skateboarders and BMXers i feel that it would attract to this community.
This idea uses the modern style phone booth, with small adaptation like a grind rail around the the box and a rail over the roof as well as a small kicker ramp attached to the door which can open on its own.
this phone booth has many different items in and around the booth, to ore symbolise the sports and should attract a lot of attention.
This phone booth is similar to the last but it would be absolutely jammed with object to do with the sport so might not be usable but will look amazing.

These are the four choices i see the best results coming from in the end.
