Field Guide 2, Project 1 Street Talk

Proposal.

There are over 50,000 telephone boxes in the UK and 25,000 carry advertising on the side. It's the closest thing you can get to guerilla style marketing and tends to carry more irrelevant, urban, edgy and street creative work. It's seen largely by a younger age group as phone-boxes are located in areas where young kids congregate - town centres, housing estates, outside shops, cinemas, bars and clubs.
As they are located where groups congregate they are fantastic to get word to mouth going.
I plan to look into various possible, successful ideas for the chosen audience. There are large communities of skateboards, BMXers and in-line skaters in the UK, looking at where these kinds of people like to congregate, there are phone boxes as these sports are often done on the street, so using the telephone boxes as advertising in this community should prove successful in raising awareness of the various sports and help inspire todays youth.
I intend on creating a model scale of a phone-box and creating 2D advertising using existing brands and recreating them using various paints and pens. I will also create the phone-box out of foam board and the details using existing products i.e. toy skateboards and Miniature BMX parts. I will look at 2 to 3 artists both modern and old trying to gain some inspirational ideas to create a interactive phone box which will captivate a wide audience.
