During a tutorial discussion we talked about an artiest (Maarten Baas) who who burnt a a wingback arm chair and then goan on to re-up holster and stud it as normal which creates this amazing charred effect with chunks that have been cooked away. The chair was burnt using a blow torch and then dowsed out and coated in a resin to seal in the soot, so can be sat on and will not ruin peoples cloths.

i like the aesthetic look this this creates as well the destructive quality that this would do to a fragile chair but i think that this is an avenue worth looking into.
